Publications of his works include: Inhabitat.com, a multitude of awards attained through his designs, Although the past is full of residential and commercial architecture projects for his appreciation of our world Ed Chew mad the exchange of grandeur now, striving to provide designs of social structures and creations by use of re-used products. Shared here, is his Tetra Drink Box Lamp. Purely hand crafted from empty drink boxes. Chew recalls if there’s a Malaysian, there’s a drink box in their hands. Knowing of the over filled dump sites with their empties, he was inspired to re-create these pieces into an architectural useful fixture. Hence, the Tetra Lamp was born. Tetra became more than just an object on its own. Once having gained the international recognition for the piece and it’s design, Ed Chew took his thoughts ‘outside the box’—or is that ;INSIDE’ the box. Shown in end photo, his Corrugated Box Pavilion. All thanks to the architecture students at his lecturing school, Chew remains loyal Taylor’s University and it’s students where he Lectures, stating a special thanks to the Dean and all who assisted in his Corrugated dream being brought to life… After winning the opportunity to be the builder of the PAM Pavilion at the Eco Building and Design Exhibition, Chew’s Pavilion is another expression of his dedication to re-using materials wasted around the world.
